     I've conceptualized a gadget that would become a turning point for the new age of the cellular phone. This device is called THE POD. It is a wireless pod shaped device that sits in the ear cavity that responds to voice commands. Using complex voice recognition software, THE POD reacts to your every word. Simple commands such as "CALL TOM", or "SEND TEXT MESSAGE TO" directs the pod to do what you ask. This also allows THE POD to be compatible with other non-pod devices because you can still complete "stone-age" cellular device techniques such as manual text messaging. When a call comes into your device, you hear it in your ear, when a text-message comes in, THE POD gives you the option to either read the text later or now upon which it is spoken into your ear. THE POD when not in use can be removed and attached to a necklace (comes with the phone) or to any article of clothing on the upper body. In order to access the web to check mail, websites, browse etc. the user must press the projector button located on the pod which projects a holographic keyboard and screen in front of them.  With this, users can use the internet and "put it away" when they are done. The device is also customizable as consumers would have the option to choose from various skins and accessories such a chains, pocket clips, charging stations and etc.
    In lecture this week we discussed databases and their ability to organize and store important information.  The POD will integrate database technology in terms of storing contacts and other information within the phone such as music. The physical way to look at this data (contacts, music ) is that it is stored in a database within the device, it is accessed and modified this way as well. The conceptual way is that this data represents people. Each name that is stored in he database has a phone number, email, and etc. associated with it. The view is that the specific application does not show the user a database but a complete contact with a photo, mail, phone number, name and ringtone that are all associated with one another.

 In lecture we discussed networking and majority of the topics that it encompasses. We traced the history of the internet back to the ARPANET and discussed packets and protocols. In terms of networking and how it would apply to THE POD, the domain name that would be used for the website promoting my product would most likely be www.thepod.com or www.podworld.com. This domain name would stand in for the ip address of the website.

The blogger that i chose to review is Frank Bocchino. He is a social media humorist who blogs about new gadgets, and how it applies to life, love and business. Frank lives inWest Palm Beach Florida and specializes in computer software, he has worked for the Fortune 100 and several web start ups, as a Vice President of marketing, magazine writer, PR and advertising exec, and creative director .
    The topic of Bocchino's blog is a comic look at new media through the eyes of social media humorist and how it applies to life, love and happiness. He blogs a lot about social events and new upcoming gadgets and the effect that  they have on our society. He does not blog about one particular topic, but multiple different
    Bocchino likes to make these events into jokes and has a comical style of writing that engages his readers. In his most recent post, Seeing Though Google Glasses he describes what the gadget is then describes it as "Part steampunk, part Terminator, Google Glass looks more like eye wear Jordy from Star Trek might wear on the beaches of Rigel 7 than a technology product. "

        In lecture we discussed how to put photoshop to use in terms of our product. I believe that the various capabilities of photoshop will be very useful to my company because we can use it to design and redesign the POD skin covers and give consumers visualizations of their personalized PODS. We can also help our consumers conceptualize the holographic features as well as what the device would like being worn.  Because this is a cellular device, information that is processed into the phone will not be stored on through cloud computing but rather on the device itself. This will be more beneficial because it would not generate as much security and privacy issues.

        After conducting research online I discovered two products that are similar to mine. 
The first is a holographic project phone by Apple called the Black Hole. This phone is a conceptual model just like mine and is being schemed up by designers and employees of apple. "The Apple Black Hole concept, is an identical cellphone that makes use of holographic technology  to control all functions and web applications." Similar to THE POD , the Black Hole can be attached to an external piece for easier use and functionality when utilizing the holographic capabilities. "when attached to the charging base, the black Hole becomes a desktop device, allowing for endless possibilities to the geeks." 

The second device that I discovered was almost a spitting image of my device, the only difference was that this device fit over the ear, whereas the POD would sit in the ear cavity. The Dot phone was a mixture of a handsfree and handset. It was made to be worn on the ear but could also slide open to a touchscreen cover. This device was developed by a company named Cyrene and they refer to the Dot as a hybrid phone.

     In lecture Professor discussed hardware and how RAM, and processing sizes affect the quality, speed and success of your product. THE POD would most likely require a lot of RAM in order to run holographic processing, computing, voice recognition technology and much more. In my research I discovered that the average handheld cellular device " now averages 128MB of RAM for data storage and another 128 MB-256 MB of memory for software and storing music and photos." For THE POD , we would like to reach beyond what the average cellular phone can do and would include a 200 MB RAM to incorporate all of the technology into the product. THE POD does not come with physical external hardware such as a keyboard and mouse... it is projected by holograms.

    Social media is a very important aspect of any business , product or organization out there today. If a company is not involved on social networks then they do not know what is being said about their product or how the public is responding. The POD will have a forum on which users and non users will be invited to discuss what they like about the product and well as improvements that they think we should make. Especially for a new product I believe that this is a good way to keep track of what is going on with the product once it has been released onto the market.
   In lecture, professor discussed his experience with Wegmens and using twitter to complain about a product. The Pod will also be utilizing a twitter and Facebook page so that users can have faster interaction with customer service and complaints about the product. If users and potential customers are able to get information about the product via social media as well as service the product it makes the product and company seem more customer oriented.
